Stand for Climate Justice
You do not need an invitation to defend the land, the water and the ecosystems that hold our lives, all you need is a movement that shares your lived reality, experience and lets organise for climate action together.
We are girls, young women and allies who organise where we live on riverbanks, in schools, in markets, in indigenous communities, in council meetings. We share what we know, we hold power to account collectively.
Girls and young women in all our diversity; community and women’s groups and allies who are willing to follow young women’s leadership rather than replace it.
Girls for Climate Action (G4CA) was founded by a group of 9 young women in Jinja in Busoga sub-region, one of the riparian zones of the River Nile. Our activism was born from our lived experiences of floods, droughts and environmental injustice and has grown into organised advocacy at local, national and global levels.
We advocate for inclusive policies, support women-led climate solutions, and build collective power to defend rights to land, water, livelihoods and a clean, healthy environment.
Four interconnected strands of work all led by young women and girls in their gifted diversities.
Through our Climate Corps Fellowship, we equip young women and girls with climate knowledge, advocacy skills and policy turning them into community organisers and decision-space shapers.
We organise against polluters, defend forests, challenge extractives that affect women and children, and demand for seats on environmental committees. We translate policy into local languages and bring communities into the rooms where decisions are made.
We support youth and women-led green enterprise, climate-resilient agriculture, and our Green Sisters network of VSLAs putting food on the table and money in youth and women's hands as we adapt.
We are building generation that is mindful of the environment. Our practical, creative curriculum reaches primary and secondary school pupils through clubs, tree nurseries and eco-innovation because mindsets formed early are the ones that hold.
From the riverbanks of Jinja to the mountains of the east and the west, our members organise in the places climate change has hit hardest.

#ToaUchafu fiercely amplifies vulnerable girls’ voices rising against severe industrial pollution. We remain deeply committed to holding negligent manufacturers strictly accountable, demanding cleaner production practices, and actively restoring damaged local ecosystems to achieve lasting environmental justice across Buikwe. Together, we champion grassroots climate action, protect vital community health, and build a sustainable, green future where every child thrives.
